I was honoured to be able to participate in a chef demonstration at the Island East Markets in Quarry Bay on behalf of Feeding Hong Kong as a Chef in the Community. You can help too. They do great work and organise food drives, bread runs and get people aware of the poverty within Hong Kong. Did you know that over 18% of the population in Hong Kong lives under the poverty line. More than 3,200 tonnes of food is thrown away each and every day. This wasted food is not only taking up valuable space in our city’s limited landfills but is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions.
So the next time you throw away food that is still good to eat, think again. Stay connected and see how you can help too.
